Agile Development Brings Benefits in Tough Financial Times

You can get it at http://www.ciber.com/downloads/whitepapers/, but we ask you to register first.

Here is the abstract:

Agile software development has become a mainstream practice that can reduce cost and accelerate revenue compared to traditional phased development methods. When the economy is in turmoil and budgets are shrinking, Agile can help an organization get more for every dollar of development spending. Experienced Agile teams are more productive than traditional development teams, resulting in more efficient use of people, the most expensive element of software development. An Agile Enterprise can gain significant competitive advantage by getting products to market sooner. All of these advantages can be explained in terms of Agile principles and practices. Experienced Agile Coaches can help ensure success when implementing Agile.

From my blog:

This has nothing to do with agile software development other than being an example of how interesting things can happen unintentionally. The image at the top of this page is my Emergent Buddha. I took the original picture in the early winter of 2006 while walking my dog in the back field. It was a fern leaf, heavily frosted in the cold New Hampshire morning. Some months later I cropped it down to make a banner for my website. It was too short for the space I had in mind, so I made it wider by flipping a copy horizontally and prepending it to itself. That resulted in the bilaterally symmetrical pattern. At the bottom, in the middle, a small Buddha appeared. He sits there still.
